oh no oh no i found the cutest fucking picture
literally all that’s happening here is these three being glad to see each other and Jim and Bones hugging and Spock almost hugging them both before he remembers he doesn’t do the feelings shit and this is one of my FAVORITE LITTLE MOMENTS IN THE ENTIRE SHOW and I’ve never seen it in such good resolution before and I’m going to fucking cry
Original Series and movies + Alternate Original Series movies.

Never forget that Spock’s Kirk impression includes a half-lidded gaze and a pouted lower lip.
Never forget that he called Bones “Bones.”
Never forget that Bones’s reaction was to stare at him and then faint in his lap.
Never forget a single goddamn thing about this scene.
I think I know what happened
also in my OT3 headcanon (of the TOS verse) which should probably be called the Everyone’s Doin It headcanon or something:
casual sex is much more commonplace in the future and so are close platonic relationships and romantic nonsexual relationships and pretty much any relationship between two or more consenting adults is much more accepted than now though there’s still bigotry just not as much of the kind we’re used to
Bones and Jim have a sort of ~thing~ like they occasionally hook up and they’ve got this solid friendship behind it and all that underlying affection, and over the years Bones has fallen hard for Jim but hasn’t said anything about it because he doesn’t want to fuck it all up and Jim is so afraid of fucking it all up that he hasn’t even really let himself acknowledge his own feelings beyond “wow what a great person that I totally love AS A FRIEND and who I occasionally am fortunate enough to sleep with I have a great life and no ROMANTIC FEELINGS are going to ruin it I have a starship to captain bye subconscious this has been a nice chat”
and sometimes Bones looks at Janice Rand and the way she looks at Jim and he thinks he should feel jealous but instead he just feels this overwhelming empathy and they start chatting after work and then they start having a few drinks while they chat and they both end up saying things about Jim that they’re glad no one else heard and they never hook up but they stay pretty good friends after that even after Janice leaves the ship
and Christine’s had a deal with her fiancé since forever that they can see other people on the side especially because they’re separated so often for work and stuff, and she starts seeing Spock’s disinterest as a challenge and is always trying to get a reaction out of him but would never want to actually creep on him or anything and when she realizes what she did while under the influence of the Psi 2000 virus she feels awful and then the thing with the Platonians happens and they end up having a conversation that is basically just both of them saying “I’m so sorry I’m so sorry" and the subject kind of drops after that
and Uhura and Christine and Rand have a mutual casual ~thing~ going on and sometimes Sulu joins in but then Chekov shows up and Sulu falls head over heels for him and kind of drifts away from them in that sense in his attempts to woo the new navigator and eventually all five of them end up with a ~casual thing~ while Sulu&Chekov and Rand&Christine get more serious and Uhura starts to drift towards Scotty
and Scotty is ace and is completely hopelessly in love with Uhura and when he finds out about what happened with Nomad and the fact that it killed him and brought him back to life his actual first question is “what did it do to Uhura and can it reverse it like it did with me” and then he spends the next whole day worrying and hanging around sickbay annoying everyone when he doesn’t have anything urgent to do and then Uhura’s personality suddenly reasserts itself and the medical staff can’t figure out why and they don’t want to let her leave but she insists on going back to work or at least sleeping in her own quarters if they make her take sick leave and Scotty walks her there and she asks him to stay for a while and he doesn’t confess to his feelings right then but they start talking and that’s when they really start getting close
and all the security personnel and other nameless redshirts have tragic love stories going on, like, constantly, and they celebrate really small anniversaries like two weeks or a month because they don’t know if they’ll both/all be here in a year
and one day Jim approaches Bones and is like “so what do you think of Spock” and tries to skirt the issue of ~feelings~ and just bluster on about how he thinks an arrangement between the three of them would be beneficial and it only takes like five minutes for Bones to get him to admit that he’s falling for his first officer and Bones is annoyed and amused and tells him he’s going to get himself hurt and says he’s not sure about asking him to join them but he wouldn’t mind Jim having his own ~thing~ with him and eventually Jim talks him around to it and they decide to ask Spock and they frame it very logically and Spock says he’ll think about it and after a few days he’s like “all right but no feelings shit” and they’re like “absolutely yes no feelings here” and then Jim falls more and more in love with Spock and Bones falls more and more in love with Jim, and Spock and Bones kind of reluctantly admit to feeling something for each other and it takes years for all of them to get everything sorted and out in the open and then they live happily ever after and Generations doesn’t happen fuck you they all die of old age
ok so far 1x28 is my favourite, because kirk and spock are in 1930s america in CIVILIAN CLOTHES and spock has a beanie and there’s SO MUCH SNARK oh my god and then kirk falls in love with that social worker lady but they have to let her die and it’s really sad and this is my version of liveblogging I’m sorry
